Our Mission
Our mission is to empower adventurers through leadership development, direct funding to organizations that foster sustainable outdoor leadership, and support initiatives that intersect environmental and social equity, including dog-powered adventures and mushing education. We are dedicated to amplifying the voices of communities disproportionately affected by climate change, building community power, and advocating for long-term solutions that create a positive impact—leveraging assets like Mushing Magazine, our podcasts, educational courses, and a 35-dog sled team to inspire hands-on learning, preserve cultural traditions, and remove barriers to outdoor experiences.
By channeling 1% of sales into grassroots projects, we break down barriers to nature, ensuring everyone can experience the transformative benefits of outdoor adventure, from Alaska’s trails to beyond.
We are dedicated to amplifying the voices of communities disproportionately affected by climate change, building community power, and advocating for long-term solutions that create a positive impact.
We Help People Go Places, Do Good Things
We believe getting outdoors is amazing, it is good for the mind, body and soul. This is why it is so inspiring to see the work of individuals and projects helping others overcome obstacles to get out and enjoy it too.
This is why Team and Trail puts 1% of sales into the Team and Trail Foundation. This is our payback. Small awards that support grass roots, direct action projects and passionate game changers where a positive difference can be made to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experiencing the benefits of time spent in nature.
We’re incredibly proud to see the effect that these small steps can make. Thank you from us to all our subscribers, members, and clients that make this happen.
Vision Statement
The integration of these assets expands our vision, adding a dedicated focus on mushing education to complement our existing goals. Here’s how we’re moving forward:
- Empower Leadership: To cultivate and elevate outdoor leaders committed to sustainability and community advocacy.
- Promote Social and Environmental Equity: To champion initiatives that bridge the gap between environmental sustainability and social equity, fostering a holistic movement for change.
- Amplify Community Voices: To actively support and uplift communities disproportionately impacted by climate change, ensuring their perspectives drive advocacy and long-term solutions.
- Advance Mushing Education and Hands-On Leadership: To educate and inspire through dog-powered adventures, utilizing our Mushing Magazine, podcasts, courses, and sled dog team to deliver immersive training in outdoor leadership and team building, in collaboration with institutions like the University of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Pacific University under the guidance of experts such as Dr. Robert Forto.
Dr. Robert Forto, an adjunct instructor at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and Alaska Pacific University (APU), brings his expertise in dog mushing and outdoor leadership to elevate our programs, ensuring real-world impact through courses, workshops, and hands-on training with our sled team.
