The Team and Trail Foundation believes that the transformative benefits of outdoor adventure and greater independence should be available to everyone.
Each year the Foundation supports three independence-track individuals through the Lead Dog Access Program, offered at a discounted rate of $9,600. This track is designed for people who face substantial barriers, financial, geographic, or related to disability, and who would benefit most from a highly trained service dog partnership.
We give priority to:
Selected teams receive the complete Lead Dog training curriculum through the Lead Dog Access Program, focused on building a true working partnership that increases independence, confidence, and access to the outdoors.
This is not a shortened or partial program. Participants receive the full training experience, with the Foundation covering a significant portion of the cost so that financial barriers do not prevent participation.
The Lead Dog Access Program is one way we put our mission into action: removing barriers, advancing social equity, and developing leadership through dog-powered experiences.
If you or someone you know meets the priority criteria and is seeking greater independence through a service dog partnership, we invite you to apply for consideration in the Lead Dog Access Program.
